‘He stays at home and waits for me, darling. It’s part of the little arrangement that I made with him. If he left the house who knows what naughty things he’d be up to?’

‘So how did you manage it?’

‘I sent him for some counselling, and they did a great job.’

There was a pause. ‘So what counselling? Marriage Guidance or some private psycho-analysis?

‘Eleanor, it’s like getting blood from a stone! Tell me!’

‘They’re very secretive, that’s all and I don’t know if you really want to do this! In fact I’m starting to regret having mentioned it…’

‘Of course I do want to do this! My husband is going to ruin my life! Do I have to search the whole Internet when you can just tell me who you used?’

‘You won’t find them on the Internet, darling, it’s a special establishment that is very exclusive…’

‘Expensive then?’

‘Hugely…’

‘Please Eleanor, tell me please.’

‘Thank you so much, Eleanor. I’m so desperate that I’d try anything.’

There was a minute’s pause.

‘You know Clare?’ said Eleanor.

‘Clare Woodward-Hillington, I can’t stand the woman.?’

‘Even so, speak to her, she might put you in contact with them.’

‘Them? Who?’

‘No more, Daniella. Not another word! I’ve said far too much already, you will have to do the rest.’

‘You make it sound as though it’s all illegal!’

‘It is…’ sighed Eleanor. ‘Awfully criminal!’
