Letters on Discipline
Letters on Discipline (1950s) is a series of thirty letters with their accompanying illustrations by the artist known as Jim.
Jim (1918-1964) was an artist of fetish and bondage comics and illustrations. He illustrated many books and serials sold by mail-order through Irving Klaw’s Nutrix company in the 1950s. Jim specialized in drawing wasp-waisted women in latex.
The real identity of the artist has always remained a mystery, even to Klaw, but one collector knew that the artist was originally from Geneva. The artist was a technical draftsman for a design firm, and he has also worked under the pen name Gil. The artist died on a vacation trip in 1964.

Letter 1
Dear Editor:
My sister and I were brought up under very strict discipline, being made to wear tightly laced restrictive corsets and high boots and shoulder-length, black kid gloves at all times, being punished for the least little fault m a most humiliating manner.
Our stepmother was particularly strict at meal times and would immediately punish anyone for unladylike posture, talking or sloppiness.
For meals, we were made to sit up straight, our feet together and when we were not eating, fold our hands in our laps, our wrists crossed. This posture was made somewhat easier because of the tightly laced corsets which held us rigidly straight, as well as the backless seats which prevented our resting our backs. We were always made to eat with our long, tight kid gloves on. If we spotted or stained these with food, we were immediately punished. Of course, her severest punishment was for refusal to eat what was put before us, no matter how much we disliked it.
For infractions of any of these rules, the punishment was humiliating and made to fit the case. For instance, if our step mother or the maid caught us with our feet not dutifully together, our ankles and knees would be immediately strapped together and would remain bound during the rest of the meal and often until bedtime.
If we failed to maintain the proper upright position, a steel rod was fixed to the back of our seats and we were tightly strapped to it at the waist, across the hips and about the neck.
For failure to fold our hands properly in our laps, our wrists would be crossed and strapped tightly together and we would have to finish our meal feeding ourselves with our hands tied, a most difficult procedure.
Any spot on our glistening kid gloves meant immediate dismissal from the table to change them to a new pair. As soon as they were drawn and buttoned, our wrists would be crossed behind us and tightly bound and we would return to be fed the rest of our meal by one of the maids, our hands to remain tied behind us for the rest of the evening as punishment.
“For talking or making any other unladylike noises, our wrists would be crossed and bound behind us and we would be gagged, to remain so until the others finished their meal. We would then be fed and as soon as we were finished, we were gagged again to remain thus, with our wrists bound behind us until bedtime.
